Today the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of La Rioja has held a conference on how to address electronic commerce strategies in the chinese market

This conference is part of the Chamber’s participation in the European Interreg Sudoe AGROSMARTglobal project, whose objective is to facilitate the internationalization of agri-food cooperatives from Spain, France and Portugal to the markets of China and the United States through digital strategies.

The conference was held in the Assembly Hall of the Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of La Rioja and gathered 45 companies and entities. It focused on the relevance of e-commerce as a strategy to address international markets in a context of increasing digitization.

Examples of marketplaces have been explained in both B2B (Business to Business) and B2C (Business to Consumer) options. Likewise, the importance of responding to the logistical challenge posed by international e-commerce has been analyzed, emphasizing the customs and operational requirements of the Chinese market. Finally, the conference studied the main e-commerce platforms in China and how to access them, specifying examples of success.

Revenues derived from B2C e-commerce in the Asian giant will exceed one trillion dollars -one million million- in 2020. The potential market is 893 million users, with an average expenditure per user of 1,121 dollars per year.

The AGROSMARTglobal project proposes to tackle grouped projects of companies in the agri-food sector of the SUDOE area -France, Spain and Portugal- to access the digital markets of China and the United States.
