Cibeles Vintage 2018

Our winery was founded on 3 January 1961 and opened on 15 May 1962. It comprised 244 vine growers and 430 hectares of vineyards. Those were the years when winemaking was the economic driver of the Rioja region in Spain.
Besides, those founding winemakers were also the descendants of countless generations that had cultivated and tended these vines in the past. To speak of Sonsierra is, therefore, to speak of centuries of history.
This combination of nature, history and winemaking traditions gave rise to an alliance, a familial bond to the soil of our homeland, an identity that defines us and sets us apart.
Today, Bodegas Sonsierra is the second largest bottling cooperative in Rioja, and is an exemplar of coordination and collaboration between 150 expert vine growers and their 570 hectares of vineyards.
Our winery has always been a pioneer in Rioja’s winemaking industry, as we have shown throughout our history. We have always striven to push boundaries and to innovate: a fine example is the project we embarked on with the designer David Delfín, which has revolutionised the sector. This creative, risk-taking spirit is one of the identifying qualities that defines the essence and philosophy of our brand.
