The Commission is committed to promoting balanced and healthy dietary practices15. Actions shall highlight the benefits of consuming fresh fruit and vegetables in a balanced diet. The messages could notably focus on: aiming at having at least 5 portions of a variety of fruit and vegetables each day; the place of fruit and vegetables in the food pyramid, beneficial impact of fruit and vegetable consumption on health.
The objective is to increase the consumption of EU fresh fruit and vegetables by informing consumers about balanced and healthy dietary practices.
The expected ultimate impact is to enhance the competitiveness and consumption of the concerned Union agri-food products, raise their profile and increase their market share.
